President Viktor Yanukovych visited the Donetsk Regional Perinatal Center, established in the framework of “New Life” national project initiated by the President of Ukraine, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
Viktor Yanukovych toured the facility and talked to its patients, whishing them and their newborns health and happiness. He also presented the center’s leadership with a certificate for a modern dual fetal monitor that has no analogues in Ukraine.
"Year after year, we will be increasing the number of perinatal centers built and providing them with the best equipment to raise the level of protection of mother and child," he said.
The President expressed confidence that Ukraine would manage to quickly reach international standards in the protection of motherhood and childhood. "For it to happen, we have to work hard and a lot," he said, adding that the first steps in this direction have already been made.
It is important to create all the conditions necessary to protect the life and health of mothers and children, said Viktor Yanukovych. According to him, special attention in this regard should be paid to the reduction of child mortality rates at childbirth, and to the treatment of various pathologies. The Donetsk Regional Perinatal Center has already made progress in this direction.
