In the framework of his working visit to Donetsk region, President Viktor Yanukovych took part in the opening of a new passenger terminal at Sergei Prokofiev International Airport in Donetsk, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

Together with Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov and Donetsk Regional State Administration Chairman Andriy Shyshatskyy, the President cut a symbolic ribbon and opened a memorial plaque to Sergei Prokofiev.

Speaking at the event, the President called it another proof that Ukraine is worthy of hosting such major sporting events as the EURO 2012 finals. "We had to show the international community that Ukraine is a country with strong economy, developing dynamically and has high professional level," Viktor Yanukovych said.

The President thanked all those who contributed to the construction of airports, stadiums, and other infrastructure in Donetsk and other cities.
