The European Union is waiting for the visit of Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov to Brussels, May 15, at the head of the Ukrainian delegation to attend the meeting of the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council, Maja Kocijancic, the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton, confirmed, UKRINFORM reports.

Mrs. Kocijancic noted that the EU-Ukraine Cooperation Council meeting will take place on May as scheduled in Brussels and the EU expects Prime Minister Mykola Azarov will head the Ukrainian delegation.

As a reminder, on May 9 President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy said in an interview to Euronews that Ukraine's Pm Mykola Azarov is not welcomed in Brussels. “We can give a very strong political message; the Prime Minister of Ukraine announced he would come to Brussels, we said: 'Stay home!' It is a clear signal from our side that they have to change inside Ukraine. Ukraine was a model of democracy in 2004 and it has to become that once again”.
