Celebration of the 67th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held without serious disturbance of public order, the Interior Ministry's press office said in a statement on Thursday, according to UKRINFORM.
“There were several incidents during the events but they were prevented due to prompt and professional interference of police,” the ministry noted.
According to the Interior Ministry, mass events took place in almost 5,000 localities throughout Ukraine involving some 2.4 million people. Most crowded events took place in Kharkiv region (280,000 people), Zaporizhzhia (130,000), Cherkasy region (over 212,800) and Khmelnytsky region (130,000).
Over 30,500 policemen, including almost 2,300 Interior Troops servicemen maintained public order during the May 9 celebrations.
