New equipment for the Border Service is a manifestation of care about independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, US ambassador to Ukraine John Teff declared during the ceremony of presenting new technical equipment to Ukraine's Border Service.
"The United States and European Union are working together to give the Ukrainian people what it needs. US Defense Threat Reduction Agency has been working in Ukraine since 2004, cooperating on prevention of distribution of mass destruction weapons. The fifth and the final stage of this program will be finished in July 2013. We believe that our cooperation has increased Ukraine's ability to reveal and detain mass destruction weapons," the ambassador said.
Teff also added that the same improvement can be seen in fighting smuggling, including of weapons, illegal migration and terrorist threats.
