German Chancellor Angela Merkel will not meet Eugenia Tymoshenko, who is visiting Germany on Monday, German government spokesman Steffen Seibert told reporters in Berlin commenting on the possible meeting of Angela Merkel with the daughter of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, according to UKRINFORM.

“Chancellor Angela Merkel won't meet Eugenia Tymoshenko on Monday, but that she is "up to date on all the developments of the Tymoshenko case," he said.

On Sunday the Bild am Sonntag newspaper reported that Tymoshenko's daughter sent a formal request to the German Chancellery asking for an audience with Merkel. The German government spokesman said that the Chancellor already met Eugenia Tymoshenko last autumn.

In Berlin Eugenia Tymoshenko had a private meeting with Minister of Justice Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger to discuss her mother's case and the rule of law in Ukraine.

Also she met the former President of the European Parliament, Chairman of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Hans-Gert Poettering and attended a meeting of a workgroup of the CDU/CSU bloc of the German Bundestag.
