There are about 4.4 thousand of fires happening in natural ecosystems annually, head of the rescue department of Ukraine's Emergencies Ministry Hryhoriy Marchenko told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.
"Such fires cover about seven thousand hectares of Ukraine's territory, and state losses due to such fires make about 64 million hryvnias," Marchenko informed. He also stressed that only for yesterday there were 87 fires in Ukraine's natural ecosystems. According to the official, the major cause of fires is trash burning.
Marchenko specified that Ivano-Franskivsk, Zakarpatska and Odessa regions top the list on fire outbreaks with 500, 400 and 300 fires respectively. Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kyiv, Vinnytsa and Zhytomyr regions are also among the leaders.
