Switching from gas to coal will result in additional pollution of the environment, Prime minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said during his working visit to Dnipropetrovsk region.
"The problem of expensive gas forces us to switch to coal. Earlier we switched our industry to gas, because it was cheap and ecologically clean. But now we are forced to increase coal mining, which is difficult, costly and pollutes the environment," the premier said.
As a reminder, earlier Azarov declared that switching to coal is economically advantageous for Ukraine with the gas price at 1.5-1.6 thousand hryvnias per a thousand cu m.
