Negative information about Ukraine's preparation to Euro-2012 is caused by the fact that Ukraine has joined the competitive fight for redistribution of world tourist flows, head of the state agency of Ukraine on tourism Olena Shapovalova said.
"What we see in media is a publicity move against Ukraine. Having applied for holding Euro-2012 Ukraine has joined the fight for redistribution of world tourist flows. According to forecasts of the World Tourism Organization, as of 2012 the tourist flow is one billion people, and Ukraine claims a part of it," the official said.
According to Shapovalova, Ukraine expects up to one million people to come for Euro-2012.
"By the end of 2011 Ukraine had 20% increase of incoming tourism, while the world growth index of tourist flow is only 4%. As a state agency we count on Euro-2012 to become our first step into the world of big tourism," she said.
According to the official, preliminary monitoring, held in the end of April, proved that Ukraine has enough room to accommodate guests of the football championship.
