Crimean government supports the development of alternative power system in the region, Crimean PM Anatoly Mohyliov told a briefing on Thursday.

Crimea has necessary natural, climatic and land resources to develop solar and wind power. "Solar and wind resources are inexhaustible, and Crimea is one of the sunniest regions of Ukraine. Capacities of thermal power plants is not enough for Crimea, hence the development of alternative power production is a priority task," the official said.

The Crimean PM also noted that the necessity to develop alternative power production is conditioned by the price rise for energy carriers in the world and by the disadvantageous gas contract with Russia.

In addition, Mohyliov noted, the development of any production, including power, allows creating new jobs for Crimean residents and filling budgets of all levels.

The council of ministers of Crimea is ready to assist investors in realization of projects on development of alternative power production, the PM summed up.
