Ukraine hopes for further active cooperation with the international community in overcoming the Chornobyl disaster consequences, President Viktor Yanukovych said at today’s ceremony of launching the construction of the ‘New Shelter’ confinement facility, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
The President particularly praised the fact that the international community did not leave Ukraine alone with the disaster. "We felt that the world is there to help us," he stressed.
"The international community has provided and continues to provide our country with financial and technical assistance. And we hope for further cooperation in this direction," he said.
On behalf of Ukraine, the President expressed his gratitude to all the donor countries of the Chornobyl Fund "Shelter" for their understanding and efficient support of our country in overcoming the consequences of that industrial disaster, the worst in history.
