The process of reduction of Ukraine's dependence on Russian gas will be carried out in three directions, energy and coal minister Yuri Boiko said after the meeting on energy security, ForUm correspondent reports.

"If to name by priority, the first one is the increase of domestic gas production. This year we plan to extract 250 million cu m of gas from Black Sea shelf, and by the end of 2014 we plant to provide Crimea with gas of only domestic production - three billion cu m per year. The second direction is the replacement with coal. Already today we no longer use gas to produce electricity. The third one is diversification of gas supplies. I believe that in the nearest future we will have certainty on this issue," the minister informed.

Speaking about diversification of gas supplies, Boiko also noted that the government would soon announce a tender on construction of liquefied gas terminal on the Black Sea coast.
