Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov believes it is economically disadvantageous to develop "green" power system due to high prime cost of the energy. The PM said this at a meeting on energy security, ForUm correspondent reports.

According to Azarov, only economically developed countries, like Germany, can afford developing of "green" power system, while Ukraine does not have alternative to nuclear and heat power systems for next 10-20 years.

"The prime cost of solar power is four hryvnias per kW, while the prime cost of the nuclear energy is 50 times less. Due to the crisis and main funds worn-out by 80% we cannot take such decision. For the next 10-20 years we do not have an alternative to the nuclear power. And we will develop it. Already this year two new blocks will be built at Khmelnitski nuclear power plant," the Premier informed.

Azarov also added that this year the construction of a plant on production of half-prepared nuclear fuel will start.
