On the eve of Euro-2012 the Antimonopoly committee of Ukraine has started the inspection of prices for hotel accommodation in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Donetsk, deputy head of the committee Rafael Kuzmin told the press.

"Out task is to check justification of prices for single, double and triple hotel rooms for coming foreign fans. The price must be adequate and meet European standards. Now we keep receiving complains about overpriced hotel rooms," he said.

Kuzmin specified that the inspection will be carried out in all hotels of the host-cities. According to him, if the committee reveals any facts of monopolization on the market, the violators face fines at the amount of 10% of the annual income.

"For example if there is only one hotel near a stadium, and the next closest hotel is 100-150 km far, we have all grounds to consider such hotel a monopolist. If we see that this hotel violates the antimonopoly legislation we will inform the relevant agencies on overpricing and will send a request to change the situation," the official explained.

Kuzmin informed that the committee will also inspect hotels, located on highways leading to host-cities.

According to the official, the committee will complete inspections and present the results by June 1 of this year.
