Full realization of the law on the status and social protection of citizens, suffered from the Chornobyl disaster, would cost the state about UAH 70 billion, director of the department for social protection of Chornobyl disaster victims Olena Kravchenko said in a comment to UKRINFORM.

"I would like to stress that full realization of the law requires over UAH 70 billion. Obviously, the state does not have such financial possibilities," Kravchenko noted.

However, according to her, the government makes everything in its power to increase annually the state financing for social protection and pension insurance of Chornobyl cleanup veterans. The official informed that this year the state budget envisaged UAH 11.8 billion for these purposes, which is 43.8% up against the previous year.
