Ukrainian-Jordanian relations have intensified significantly, including thanks to the effective work of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Jordanian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, President Viktor Yanukovych told Ukrainian journalists in Amman, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

The President expressed the belief that the two countries’ businesses should also develop their cooperation, so holding regular business forums is important and the appropriate decision has been taken today.

The President also stressed that Ukraine acts in accordance with its national interests in its cooperation with any country. In this context he informed that Ukraine might take part in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Jordan, should such project be launched.

Viktor Yanukovych informed that the sides have also discussed building alternative energy power plants: solar, wind, etc. "Our energy engineering companies have good reputation here, they are competitive," said Viktor Yanukovych.

According to the president, another promising direction of cooperation for the two states might be the construction of grain, steel products, manufactured goods, foodstuffs, and agricultural products storage terminals in Jordan. "We are working on this question. We consider it very promising," Viktor Yanukovych said.
