President Viktor Yanukovych and UEFA President Michel Platini took part in the opening ceremony of a new terminal at the Lviv Danylo Halytsky International Airport, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

Congratulating those present on the event, the President called it another victory of Lviv on the way of preparation to EURO 2012. "We are opening a new, modern terminal," he said, adding that its capacity will be about 2.100 passengers per hour.

According to Viktor Yanukovych, Lviv local government's next major task is building modern infrastructure around the airport.

For his part, the UEFA President praised the work carried out by Ukraine in the framework of preparation for EURO 2012. "It is amazing what the small football ball can do," Michel Platini said, expressing the belief that EURO 2012 in Ukraine will be a really grand event for football fans.

Viktor Yanukovych and Michel Platini have cut the symbolic ribbon together and unveiled a bust of King Danylo Halytsky in the new terminal premises.
