Ukraine needs to reseed 2.5 million hectares of winter crops, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said at today's session of the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.
"This year it is needed to reseed 2.5 million hectares out of total 8.4 million hectares of winter crops," the Premier noted and added that crop acreage should be insured in the future.
"We should finally follow the civilized practice, when climate risks are compensated not by the budget, but by insurance companies. Grain traders should not shift their risks on the state," the PM said.
In this connection Azarov has charged the Agrarian Ministry and Finance Ministry to work out a mechanism to motivate participants of the grain market for obligatory insurance of their risks.
