Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Pshonka has ordered to hold inspections in all penitentiary facilities of the country.
"In order to carry out the instruction of President Viktor Yanukovych the Prosecutor General has signed a corresponding task, sent to all prosecutors of Ukraine's regions, including Crimea. The matter concerns urgent inspections of all penitentiary facilities," press secretary of the Prosecutor General Margarita Velkova told a briefing on Tuesday.
The official specified that the Prosecutor General demands to inspect the observance of constitutional rights of the detainees, as well to inspect residential conditions and medical provision.
In course of inspections the authorized officials in regions must report to the Prosecutor General and take measures to prevent violations if necessary, the press secretary added.
