The official reminded that the hearings on the case started on April 4, and that Ukrainians are accused of assistance to Gaddafi regime.

"For us it is important that the case is considered legally - in real court with true lawyers and prosecutors. Today our citizens are no longer hostages," Voloshym said.

The official informed that the defense team submitted two motions. "One concerned the replacement of the measure of restrain - from custody to recognisance not to leave . However, this motion was denied. The second motion concerned the postponement of the trial for a week so that the defense team has time to study the case. The second motion was granted. The next hearing is scheduled for April 16," he said.

"We hope the defense team can prove innocence of our citizens. However, nobody denies that last summer Ukrainians arrived in Libya during the warfare in the country," Voloshyn said.
