The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is planning to begin exports of liquefied natural gas to Ukraine as soon as Azerbaijan starts its production as part of a project on the development of the Shah Deniz gas field. Until that time Baku will hardly be able to provide Ukraine with liquefied natural gas in full, although Ukraine hopes to get 5-15 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani liquefied natural gas per year.

SOCAR Vice-President for Investment and Marketing Elshad Nassirov announced this on Tuesday, UKRINFORM reported referring to 1news.az.

"The Ukrainian side counts on the supply of 5-15 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas per year. Azerbaijan will not have such an amount of gas until 2017," he said.

Nassirov said that the production of gas as part of the development of the second stage of the Shah Deniz gas field is due to start in 2017. Of the 16 billion cubic meters of gas, which is to be produced at the field, six billion cubic meters will be sold to Turkey, and Azerbaijan is ready to export ten billion cubic meters to Europe.
