President Viktor Yanukovych has ordered Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka to organize an inspection of Lukyanivsky pre-trial detention facility, ForUm learned from the president's press office on Monday.
"In order to ensure better protection of citizens’ constitutional rights and freedoms at detention facilities, President Viktor Yanukovych has instructed Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka to check the facts of inmates' rights violations at the Kyiv detention center, which have circulated the media since the beginning of April, and proposed suspending the officials suspected of the violations from duty for the time of investigation," the statement by the President reads.
In early April the TVi channel broadcast a video footage about the violations of constitutional rights of detainees of Lukyanivsky detention facility.
