Constitutional Court bans simultaneous running for the parliament on party list and from a single-mandate constituency
The Constitutional Court of Ukraine has banned simultaneous running for the parliament, ForUm correspondent reports. In particular, relevant articles of the law "On parliamentary elections" were recognized unconstitutional.

In its decision the CC explains that simultaneous running for elections (when the same nominee runs for parliament on party list and as a single-mandate candidate) violates the election rights and constitutional principle of equality regarding a candidate who runs for parliament only on party list or from a single-mandate constituency.

Commenting the decision, Verkhovna Rada representative in the Constitutional Court Anatoly Selivanov declared that from now candidates must decide whether they go in the with a party list or as a single-mandate candidates.

"After the ban by the CCU, every candidate must decide on the way to run for parliamentary seat. And it is the Central Election Commission which has to observe and prevent double nominations," the official said.
