President Viktor Yanukovych proposes reviving the Brotherhood of Saints Cyril and Methodius, he said at a meeting of the Public Humanitarian Council, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
"I propose reviving the Brotherhood of Cyril and Methodius as a modern student movement built on the foundation of Shevchenko's spiritual heritage. Such a movement involving Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and National University of Taras Shevchenko students would revived our society," said Viktor Yanukovych.
The President also pointed to the importance of developing the state program "Shevchenko's House." "This should be a system with one center, after the example of the Goethe Institute, which will comprehensively manage the collection, proliferation, and research of Shevchenko heritage," he said. Viktor Yanukovych reminded that he had already instructed preparing a concept of the program.
The President also stressed the significance of Taras Shevchenko’s creative legacy representation in contemporary cultural products, such as the creation of Taras Shevchenko's interactive museum and the restoration of the "Kobzar forever” festival.
