In the framework of the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit, President Viktor Yanukovych met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, presidential press office reports. The sides have discussed a number of important nuclear security cooperation issues.
The UN Secretary General has said that Ukraine’s participation in the international nuclear security cooperation is much appreciated. He also thanked Ukraine for helping Japan in the framework of international partnership campaign to mitigate consequences of the Fukushima disaster.
Moreover, the sides have discussed Ukraine’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations.
Speaking about the Ukraine-UN cooperation, President Yanukovych said that it “reaches new heights and is filled with new meaning.”
