Not all Ukrainian railways are adapted for high-speed trains, vice PM and Minister for infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov said during the opening ceremony of training center for locomotive drivers.

The official noted that at least Lviv, Kharkiv and Donetsk routes are fully adapted for the calculated speed at 160-180 km per hour, but not the rest, while for trains with 300 km/h speed new railways must be built.

According to Kolesnikov, to improve railway capacities it is needed to develop economy and to change the ticket sale system.

"All parts of the system, starting from ticket sale and to trip itself, must be reconsidered, so the trains can compete with aviation," the Minister said and added that his department plans to create new modern ticket sale system by the end of April.
