Offenders, who attacked the Kharkiv military base this morning, are two brothers, one of who is former fighter of the Special Forces, deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Anatoliy Prishko informed.

According to him, two brothers, 1970 and 1979 year of birth, attacked the base during the guard mount. The attacker of 1970 year of birth, former fighter of the Special Forces, who served in Russia, was detained, while the younger brother was killed during the attack.

Prishko informed that the attackers planend theri actions in advance. They were masked and dressed into the uniform of Special Forces and had walky-talky. They also used a special ladder to sneak on the territory of the military base.

The official reported that both attackers are citizens of Ukraine, living in Kharkiv and doing business. Though having a gun with them, the attackers used only knives to eliminate the guards. One of the servicemen was stabbed to death, while two others were injured, but their lives are out of danger.

Prishko noted that the investigation is considering several versions of the crime, the main of which is stealing weapons. "There is no political or religious subtext in this crime. We believe the attack was aimed at getting possession of weapons for further sale," he said.

The investigators are now checking the information on possible connection to other similar crimes on the territory of Ukraine.
