President's initiative on recognition of Russian as the second state language will hardly find support in the parliament, Party of Regions faction leader Oleksandr Yefremov told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

The MP noted that according to the current procedure, 330 votes are needed to pass the decision. "Honestly, I work in the parliament every day, and I don't see these votes," he said.

Yefremov stressed that initiation of a national referendum on language issue is also unlikely in Ukraine. "We've never held a national referendum, and I am not ready to tell if there are proper mechanisms to do it now," the MP said.
