The package of social initiatives proposed by President Viktor Yanukovych will cost about 25 billion UAH, which is approximately 5% of Ukraine's consolidated budget, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said in the program 'Test for Power' on the First National TV Channel, UKRINFORM reports.

"The entire package of these social measures will cost about 25 billion UAH. Is it much or little? It's very much, a very large sum. But, if compared with the size of the consolidated budget, which exceeds 450 billion, it will be about 5%," the head of government said, adding, "That is, on the one hand, the sum is huge, and we'll have to strain, strain very seriously, and, on the other hand, taking into account all costs of the consolidated budget, this amount is not that large."

Azarov stressed that the increase in social standards is based on the growth of the national economy and is a comprehensive program, which for the first time in 20 years of independence reforms the whole system of social protection. "We have calculated everything very seriously. Risks, of course, exist, I can not deny them; there are risks in any affair. But the precautionary measures that we intend to take will allow us to minimize these risks," he said.
