Ukraine and Turkmenistan have lots of opportunities to further develop their mutually beneficial partnership in all areas of trade and economic cooperation, President Viktor Yanukovych told the media after today’s Ukrainian-Turkmen negotiations, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

The President stressed that effective trade and economic cooperation remains a priority in the relations between our countries. "Therefore, in the Joint Communique we have signed today with Mr. President, we noted the significance of cooperation in this area and expressed our desire to strengthen economic partnership based on the principles of equality and mutual benefit," said Viktor Yanukovych.

The President drew attention to the substantial increase in trade turnover between Ukraine and Turkmenistan in 2011.

During today's talks the sides have discussed cooperation in energy, agriculture, metallurgy, transportation, and other areas of mutual interest.

"The all-inclusive nature of this work will ensure the implementation of the Interstate Program of Trade and Economic Cooperation between Ukraine and Turkmenistan for 2012-2015 signed today," he said.
