In order to provide people, who are in queues for receiving housing, with apartments, it is necessary to build by 100,000 sq m of affordable housing annually, Premier Mykola Azarov has said during familiarization with the course of construction of the subway in the direction of stations Ipodrom and Odesa Square on Tuesday, UKRINFORM reports.

"We have 1.5 million of people in queues for receiving housing. At the same time, this queue actually does not move. People are in queues for 20-30 years. In order that this queue moves, it is necessary to build at least 100,000 sq m of affordable housing annually. In this case, this problem will be solved in some 10 years," the head of government noted.

He added that currently prices for apartments are super-high and they should be reduced. "It is necessary to build accessible housing in the economic variant. A two-room apartment should be of 50 sq m, and cost of one square meter should not exceed USD 500," Azarov explained. Cost of such an apartment will be about UAH 200,000.
