Due to the disadvantageous gas contracts signed by the government of Yulia Tymoshenko Ukraine annually overpays 30 billion hryvnais for Russian gas, president Viktor Yanukovych said at today's extended meeting of the Cabinet, ForUm correspondent reports.
The president named this payment as "gas tax" and declared that the means could have been used for social needs.
"We overpay annually about 30 billion hryvnias for Russian gas, while these means could have been aimed at improvement of social standards and development of our state," Yanukovych underlined.
