Positive trends in the national economy provide the opportunity to improve social standards in Ukraine, President Viktor Yanukovych said at todays extended meeting of the Cabinet, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

"We see the economy displaying positive results, that the outlined dynamics give us optimism. And we should use them in order to raise the living standards of socially vulnerable population – those who face the most difficulties today," he said.

The President stressed that the policy of modernization made ​​it possible to optimize expenditures and begin the process of pulling the economy out of the shadows. "Thanks to that we were able not only to maintain wages and social protection, but also to increase them," said Viktor Yanukovych.

The President said that the economic achievements of Ukraine in the last two years were mostly associated "with successful foreign trade." "Exports grew by more than 30%" he said and expressed confidence that Ukraine needs to even further increase the exports of its products to global markets.
