A British citizen, who had arrived from Vienna, chose "green corridor" to pass the customs control, but customs officials doubted the man's bag and asked his to show things for visual inspection.
Apart from personal items, the man's luggage contained 2.5 kilos of jewelries, including rings, earrings, cuff-links, bracelets, chains, watches encrusted with gems. The British explained that he was a jeweler bringing samples for Ukrainian jewelry shops. Gems presented in the jewelries were true diamonds.
Customs officials documented a protocol on violation of customs regulations (non-declaration of goods). The items were sent for expertise, which confirmed that jewelries were made of gold and silver (total 104 items) costing 3.8 million hryvnias.
Further fate of the jewelries was determined by court, which ordered to confiscate the items in profit of state.
