Fishing on ice becomes very dangerous from March 11, Emergencies Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Horunzhyi told a briefing, ForUm correspondent reports.

"Already now it is quite dangerous to stay on ice, but after March 11 it will become even riskier, as we expect warm spell and ice will start melting," the official said.

Horunzhyi specified that the next week the night temperature will be subzero, while during the day it will be above-zero. Such fluctuations will affect the texture of ice.

In his turn, the deputy head of the rescue department of the Emergencies Ministry Volodymyr Demchuk informed that by the end of March the ice will melt completely. The official did not specify the exact     cost of a rescue operation on ice in case of accident, but said that one operation costs the Emergencies Ministry thousands, depending on equipment and machinery involvement.
