According to teaching plans for 2013 Ukrainian pupils will study a foreign language from the first grade of elementary school and computer science from the second grade, Education Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk announced.

"I believe we must follow the European path. In Europe 90% of school pupils study two foreign languages," Tabachnyk said.

He also said he supports the position of specialists on that the education with technical disciplines wins the competition of XXI century.

"New standards we propose are revolutionary. Starting from 2013 pupils of the first grade will study first foreign language at choice, which is usually English, in the second grade pupils will study computer science and in the fifth grade will be obliged to study second foreign language at choice," Tabachnyk specified.

The minister also noted that a relevant program has been developed and that such serious matters can be taught in a playing form.
