Minister for emergency situations Viktor Baloha has addressed PM Mykola Azarov with a request to allocate 65 million hryvnias for reparation of the dam along the Ukrainian part of Dunai River, press office of the Ministry reported.
According to Vasyl Kvashuk, director of the civil protection department informed that this dam was partially repaired in 2010, but the works were not finished, and the Ministry insists on allocation of money from the reserve budget fund to complete reconstruction to provide fail-safe passage for spring flood.
Kvashuk also informed that as a result of snow melting and precipitations the water level of the river is increasing and will continue to increase till maximum critical level, 1.5 meters above the norm, which will lead to flooding of some objects and houses in Reni and Ismail ports.
