Vice President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Walburga Habsburg Douglas, and member of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly of Sweden Asa Lindestam have arrived at Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv, where former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko is serving her seven-year sentence, UKRINFORM reports.

The European politicians are accompanied by Oleksandra Kuzhel, the coordinator of the public movement Civil Resistance, daughter of former Prime Minister Yevhenia Tymoshenko, MPs Iryna Herashchenko (OU-PSD), Olena Bondarenko and Olena Kondratiuk (both - BYuT-Batkivshchyna).

Kuzhel congratulated all women on the upcoming March 8 [International Women's Day], after which the guests entered the administrative building of the colony to decide on a meeting with Tymoshenko.

At this time, under the walls of the Kachanivska colony more than a thousand supporters of Tymoshenko and activists from the Kharkiv-based organization "Veterans of Chernobyl" are staging a rally, chanting Mobsters, go away, Freedom to Yulia!

Police, meanwhile, are pushing people away from the gate of the colony.

As a reminder, on March 3 the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine did not allow Vice President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Walburga Habsburg Douglas and four other members of European institutions to visit Tymoshenko in the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv. The service said that in accordance with current Ukrainian legislation, there are no grounds for granting permission for such visits. However, despite the ban European politicians said they would nevertheless arrive on Monday at the Kachanivska penal colony in Kharkiv to see Tymoshenko.
