In Ukraine there is a problem with following the norms on fighting against poaching, deputy speaker of the parliament Mykola Tomenko told a roundtable "Observance of law on fighting against poaching on the eve of the spring hunting season", ForUm correspondent reports.

"We've got information that people, selling poaching equipment, still have a possibility to bring it to Ukraine from abroad, despite the prohibition," Tomenko informed and added that in September 2011 the Cabinet submitted a draft bill, which lift the ban on import of such equipment. "Our task is to prevent this from happening," the deputy speaker underlined.

Tomenko also proposed to introduce criminal responsibility in addition to the administrative one for poaching and to hold a social campaign against poaching.

In this connection a representative of the Interior Ministry Vasyl Stasyuk proposed to hold accountable not only producers and distributors of poaching equipment, but directors of markets and heads of administrations, who authorize the sale.
