SBU officials have exposed illegal activity of workers of Mykolayiv regional forensic medical examination bureau, who were illegally collecting anatomic parts, tissues, components and fragments from dead donors for further illegal sale and production of bio-implants, ForUm learned from the Security Service press office.
Bureau officials were taking advantage of relatives of the dead and by false pretences were obtaining their permission to take body samples. Sometimes the criminals were using third persons forging the documents about the degree of kin.
On February 24 SBU officials detained the group, when it was loading anatomic material into a truck for further transportation. During the search SBU officials also found envelops with money, aimed for forensic medical experts, involved into the activity.
The SBU department of Mykolayiv region instituted a criminal case on illegal sale of body organs and tissues.
