International Monetary Fund keeps insisting on increasing household utility charges and housing maintenance fees for population, vice PM Serhiy Tihipko told a briefing in the Cabinet, ForUm's correspondent reports.

"The IMF position regarding tariff increase remains strict, but neither Ukrainian government nor the president is ready to increase the tariffs. And this is the main problem in the talks with IMF," the official explained.

He also added that the government is looking for compensating mechanisms and alternative propositions and developing them.

"One on such programs is being developed jointly with the World Bank," Tihipko informed.
