The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) will consider a complaint by former interior minister Yuri Lutsenko on the unlawfulness of his arrest, Lutsenko's representative at the ECHR Valentyna Telychenko said, according to Interfax-Ukraine.
According to the press office of the ECHR, Lutsenko lodged the application against Ukraine on January 21, 2011, and the Court scheduled public hearings on the case "Lutsenko v. Ukraine" for April 17, 2012.
According to Interfax-Ukraine, Lutsenko's wife declared that if Pechersky District Court of Kyiv finds Lutsenko guilty, the defense counsel will appeal to the ECHR against the violation of the right to a fair trial, which led to sentencing.
