In 2012, the level of social standards in Ukraine will continue to grow, President Viktor Yanukovych said at a meeting with the economic and administrative leadership of the Poltava region, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

According to the President, the minimum pension will be increased to the subsistence level this year. "We set a task to bring pensions to the subsistence level ... We must increase pensions," he said, adding that the government will also make efforts to raise wages, because increasing pensions is impossible without that.

The President said that national economy growth will allow making such steps.

Yanukovych also informed that alterations to the 2012 State Budget of Ukraine would be made already this spring. "As we agreed earlier, after the first quarter the budget will be reviewed," he said.

The President noted that the alterations will also provide for the increased funding of the regions.
