The IMF office in Ukraine has confirmed the timely receipt of funds from Ukraine. The expected SDR 375 million, or about USD 570 million, was transferred to the accounts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on February 7, in accordance with the repayment schedule, UKRINFORM reports.

In recent years, many experts have expressed fears that Ukraine will not be able to return funds to the IMF without attracting new borrowings from the fund. Despite the fact that Ukraine has not received money from the fund, the first IMF tranche was repaid on time.

As reported, in 2012, Ukraine has to pay four tranches totaling USD 3.5 billion. Subsequent payments are made in August, October and November in equal tranches: a billion dollars each.

The program of cooperation envisages the allocation to Ukraine of a loan worth USD 15.15 billion. The period of the program's validity is 2.5 years. Funds are raised at an interest rate 3.5% per annum.
