
"The last two week have proved that Ukraine is a hostage of gas relations between Russia and Europe," he said. The official explained that due to infrastructural problems of Gazprom, namely the lack of storage facilities in central Russia, Gazprom failed to supply contracted volumes of gas to Europe during the peak period of consumption.
According to Zemlianski, this situation made Europeans to feel critical regarding the construction and operation of Nord and South Streams pipelines.
Hence, the expert believes that for now Europe is interested in creation of three-sided consortium on managing Ukrainian gas transportation system on conditions, set by Ukraine, which is 34% of stocks belong to Ukraine and the rest to Russia and EU - 33% each.
