Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko has started serving her seven-year term in Kachanivska penal colony of Kharkiv in accordance with the sentence by Pechersk District Court of Kyiv, ForUm learned from the Penitentiary service of Ukraine.

"From February 9, according to the resolution by the investigator into the criminal case, Tymoshenko's pre-trial custody is terminated," the pres office reported.

The Penitentiary service also noted that according to the Criminal Procedure Code Tymoshenko continues the study of materials of the case, and "there are no obstacles for Tymoshenko's defense team to study the materials as well."

"Regime and conditions of Tymoshenko's maintenance in the colony meet the norms of current legislation," the Penitentiary service assured.
