The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must take seriously the recommendations of the European structures, speaker Volodymyr Lytyvn said at the opening of the tenth session, ForUm correspondent reports.

"We are under constant monitoring, and we are being given recommendations which turn into additional obligations as regards the development of democracy in Ukraine. In this context the parliament must take these recommendations seriously, including the latest PACE resolution on functioning of democratic institutions in Ukraine," the speaker said.

According to Lytvyn, every MP must finally realize and understand the ton of these resolutions. If at first the documents contained encouragement and recommendations, now they are more like binding demands. I have a bad feeling about the next move - sanctions, as it is quite problematic to realize all required changes to the Constitution. The main topic of today's agenda is Ukraine's authority. Under no circumstances we should allow the falling of Ukraine's rating and its isolation. And to start we must reject our internal malicious glee," Lytvyn summed up.
