Security Service of Ukraine jointly with the State Customs Service and State Border Control of Ukraine has closed an international channel of drug smuggling from Latin America to Ukraine through sea cargo traffic, ForUm learned from the press office of the SBU.
The drugs were found on the territory of Illichevsk sea port inside a container, arrived from Costa-Rica to Ukraine to the address of one of Ukrainian enterprises.
Cocaine was hidden inside pineapples glued with wax. Law enforcements have withdrawn more than 38 kilos, approximate market price of which is more than 7.5 million dollars.
On February 4-6 the law enforcements held a special operation, in the result of which five people were arrested (three Ukrainians and two Moldavians). SBU department of Odesa has instituted a criminal case on drug smuggling.
