Ukraine will assist Russia with gas deliveries to Europe if there is a necessity, Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov told journalists in Kyiv during his working visit to Darnitsa Central Heating and Power Plant, ForUm correspondent reports.

"When Russia cut gas deliveries to Europe and Gazprom representatives officially admitted the fact, we offered them our help - to make a contract and to assist with gas supplies," Azarov reminded.

The PM also pointed out that the reduction of gas volume being purchased from Russia and the increase of consumption of gas from state storages will not affect the relations between the countries, which are already tense. "For this we were pumping in the gas during the summer to use it during the winter," the Premier summed up.
