Ukraine is ready to actively join the process of developing new transparent and fair rules of international energy cooperation, President Viktor Yanukovych told journalists in Munich, according to the presidential press office.
As the issue of energy security is an important component of every state’s overall security, the introduction of common rules in the energy market is extremely important, Viktor Yanukovych said. “We are yet to work out these rules, and we are ready to participate in this process. We initiate it," Viktor Yanukovych said.
The President also reiterated the urgency of establishing a trilateral gas consortium. "This question is currently relevant more than ever. We need to solve it together with Russia and the EU," he said.
The President said that Ukraine would always build energy partnerships on equal terms.
